Eligibility Criteria
1. Nationality
Only Indian Citizens are eligible to apply.
2. Physical Standards
For Male Candidates:
- UR / BC / EWS: Height – 165 cm | Chest (Unexpanded) – 81 cm | Chest (Expanded) – 86 cm
- EBC: Height – 160 cm | Chest (Unexpanded) – 81 cm | Chest (Expanded) – 86 cm
- SC / ST: Height – 160 cm | Chest (Unexpanded) – 79 cm | Chest (Expanded) – 84 cm
A minimum expansion of 5 cm between unexpanded and expanded chest measurement is mandatory for all male candidates.
For Female Candidates (All Categories):
- Minimum Height: 155 cm
- Minimum Weight: 48 kg
- Chest measurement is not applicable for female candidates.
Note: Transgender candidates will follow the same physical standards as female candidates.
3. Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) in Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or an equivalent examination, with the following minimum marks:
- 50% marks for General / EWS / BC / EBC category candidates
- 45% marks for SC / ST category candidates
4. Age Limit
Age is calculated based on the date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate. The cut-off date for maximum age is 01-08-2021 (with a 5-year relaxation already applied as per the government order).

- BC / EBC (Male): 18 to 27 years
- BC / EBC (Female): 18 to 28 years
- SC / ST / Transgender: 18 to 30 years
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted in three stages:
Stage 1: Written Examination
- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Question Type: OMR-based MCQ (1 mark per correct answer)
- Standard: Intermediate (10+2) level
The question paper will have 100 questions divided as follows: 25 questions from General Knowledge & Current Affairs, 25 from Physics, 25 from Chemistry, and 25 from Mathematics — all at the Intermediate level. Candidates are advised to refer to the Bihar School Examination Board website for the detailed syllabus.
Candidates scoring less than 30% in the written exam will be disqualified from the Physical Efficiency Test.
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates shortlisted at a ratio of 5 times the vacancies (category-wise) from the written exam will be called for PET. The PET includes three events and candidates must qualify all three separately.
Running:
- Male (All Categories): 1 mile (1.6 km) within 6 minutes
- Female (All Categories): 1 km within 6 minutes
High Jump:
- Male: Minimum 3 feet 6 inches
- Female: Minimum 2 feet 6 inches
Shot Put:
- Male (16 lbs): Minimum 15 feet
- Female (12 lbs): Minimum 8 feet
Each event allows a maximum of 3 attempts. PET is qualifying in nature — no marks are awarded. Pregnant women are not permitted to participate in PET.
Stage 3: Document Verification
Candidates who pass the PET will be called for document verification, usually on the same day as the PET or on a separately notified date. No second opportunity will be given for submitting documents.
Application Fee
The application fee for all categories is ₹100/- (One Hundred Rupees only). Bank charges for Net Banking or Credit/Debit Card transactions will be borne by the candidate. The fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Candidates must carry originals along with one self-attested photocopy of the following documents:
- Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, etc.)
- Date of Birth Certificate (Matric/equivalent marksheet and certificate)
- Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent pass certificate
- Intermediate marksheet
- SC/ST candidates: Caste certificate + Permanent Residence certificate (in prescribed format)

⚠️ Key Points to Remember
- 35% horizontal reservation is applicable for women who are domicile residents of Bihar across all categories.
- Candidates from outside Bihar will be treated as Unreserved (UR) category and must apply as such; otherwise their application will be automatically rejected.
- Reservation benefits for caste-based categories (SC/ST/BC/EBC) are only available to permanent domicile residents of Bihar.
